Tree Trimming!

Christmas around our house means work. Not working for your boss, but working for yourself. Since we had a few days off, we helped Bobby's dad cut down dead trees in their yard. This has been a project that Bobby has wanted to get done for a long while and we finally got it into action. It took the entire 2 days we had the lift rented, but we got'er done! Not only are all the dead trees cut down, but the siding and trim on the house are screwed back on! And I got a good little work out hauling all these limbs off and stacking them up!

Bobby wanted to put the dogs to work!

She needed a little motivation

Second day and Jaxson got to ride up with Uncle Bobby

So high I can see over the house!

As high as the lift goes!

And Jaxson got to go as high as it would go...

Doesn't look scared to me

Can you tell who is doing all the work!

That is 2 full days of work. I didn't get a picture of them all cut down... looks weird with no trees!

Hope y'all have a safe and fun NEW YEARS EVE!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree.

Well I went with a theme on my tree this year. If you know me you know that I'm a very theme oriented person, so this shouldn't surprise you. I have 3 trees in my house this year, but hope to have one for every room eventually! Normally my excessive decorating would bother Bobby, but he's been a very excited elf this year and helped and told me he liked me decorations! A lady told me that once I have kids, themed trees will be out of the picture. Whether that is true or not, I wanted to enjoy a theme tree. I went with a "woodsie" theme. I love the little owls and the "rustic-ness" of it! I bought most everything, but do have some that I made!

I have a fun little story about these little ornaments. Back when Bobby was in high school he, his dad brother and their neighbors went to clean up the old family place down by Katy, TX. Bobby ripped down some old lumber that was in his great-granddad's old horse barn. Well, he got it with the intentions of making something out of that Cyprus lumber one day. After Bobby and I got married, he and my dad put a table top together out of that lumber. We found a guy with a saw mill and some big chunks of Cyprus. So now we have a dining room table out of that wood. You can find pictures on an old post! Well now Bobby and I are making a coffee table out of what we have left of the lumber. He had cut some corners off of some of the boards... thus making triangles. So I got this clever idea to make trees out of them! We just sliced them about an inch thick, drilled holes through the top and put wire through to hold them together and hang them with. I simply love how they turned out... Gets me a little giddy! And here are my little cuties!!

Made these cute little "homemade" clay ornaments!

Love my wooden acorns!

And naturally... a cotton boll!

pine cones!

Sweet ornament from my sister-in-law last year
Don't you just love the tree! I like it's fuzziness! and that it doesn't look like a fake tree as much!
Merry Christmas everyone!!

Santa Clause is Coming to Town!

With Christmas rapidly approaching, we have been in full gear getting ready. Well, I mainly have been in full gear, but Bobby has now gotten all his shopping done as well. I have seemed to have a hard time feeling like it is Christmas. I took all the appropriate steps.... Tree up and decorated, lights up outside, Christmas decorations scattered all through my house... but it still seems weird. It might be due to the warm weather we are having or the fact that the older you get the faster time flies and it couldn't possibly be December yet, but I think I decided that it has to do with it is only the first (second now) week of December and I've gotten my decorations up and most of my Christmas presents wrapped under the tree. We love this time of year, with the celebration of our Lord's birthday and giving gifts, Christmas music, cuddling, hot chocolate and mistletoe, so why not celebrate as long as you can. I always say, "It's my birthday month (or Bobby's)!", but this truly is Jesus' birthday month. Let's party!!
Today I woke up to a very chilly 23*. Sadly with no snow, but it is feeling a lot more like Christmas. I've been busily working like Santa's elves on getting all my gifts made/bought and wrapped under the tree so I can work on some Christmas related projects. Even though I still lack a few gifts being finished, I did get a couple things done.
